This project was the acoustic renovation of a high-end craft brewery taproom. The space adopts an industrial-style bare-top design, with concrete walls and metal decorations, and strong sound reflection. During peak dining hours, the sound of guests talking, clinking glasses and background music is superimposed, the environment is noisy, and communication is laborious, which reduces the dining experience and the length of stay of guests.

Cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels were selected as the main ceiling and partial wall acoustic material. The unique rough wood texture of the panels is highly compatible with the rough and retro industrial style of the brewpub, retaining the original relaxed and casual atmosphere of the space. The open fiber structure achieves an NRC of 0.80–0.90, which effectively absorbs the scattered noise in the dining area, reduces the overall environmental reverberation, and makes the conversation between guests easier.

In addition, the wood wool panels have Class A fire resistance and excellent oil and moisture resistance, which adapt to the complex environment of catering places and are convenient for daily cleaning and maintenance. After the transformation, the overall noise level of the restaurant decreased significantly during peak hours. Guests can communicate normally without raising their voices, and the dining comfort is greatly improved. While retaining the industrial style, the space has achieved a high-quality acoustic experience, which has been well received by the store and customers.
