The Challenge

This 1,200㎡ open-plan headquarters for a fast-growing tech startup is located in downtown Boston. It features open workstations, glass-walled meeting rooms and casual collaboration zones. Extensive glass partitions and polished concrete floors cause long reverberation time, noticeable cross-desk voice crosstalk and insufficient speech privacy in meeting spaces. The company wanted an eco-friendly acoustic upgrade aligned with their LEED certification goals, that would match their modern minimalist interior and be installed in phases without disrupting daily operations.

Our Solution

We installed 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fiber acoustic panels on partition walls, structural columns and feature walls across all office floors, with a stable NRC rating of 0.85–0.95. The formaldehyde-free, ultra-low VOC formulation contributes to LEED Indoor Environmental Quality credits. Inside conference rooms, we lined the walls with high-density fiberglass core fabric wrapped acoustic panels (NRC 0.85–1.0) to optimize first reflection points and improve meeting speech clarity and confidentiality.

All materials carry ASTM E84 Class A fire certification. Custom neutral tones match the corporate interior palette, and lightweight modular installation was carried out overnight and on weekends.

The Results

Cross-team sound interference is reduced by an estimated 42%, and employee satisfaction scores for acoustic comfort increase by 38%. Reverberation time in open work zones meets modern office building recommended standards, and the project supports the company’s LEED Silver recertification.
