Fiberglass Ceiling + Sound Barriers for Logistics Fulfillment Hub in Middle East

This large e-commerce fulfillment hub in the Middle East handles high-volume daily sorting, packing and dispatch operations. High exposed steel roofs, concrete floors and dense automated conveyor systems created persistent high ambient noise across the sorting zone. Conveyor belts, sorting machinery and ventilation systems produced overlapping broadband noise, exposing on-site staff to noise levels above local occupational health thresholds. The harsh desert climate also meant materials needed excellent heat resistance, dust resistance and dimensional stability to perform reliably long-term in high-temperature, high-dust industrial conditions.

We designed a comprehensive noise control scheme using high-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles and modular damping sound barriers. The full sorting and packing zone ceiling was upgraded with fiberglass tiles with inherent ASTM E84 Class A fire resistance, delivering an NRC rating of 0.90–0.95 to absorb reflected ambient noise from equipment and airflow. The material is highly resistant to sagging, dust and temperature fluctuations, maintaining stable performance in the region’s hot, dusty industrial environment with very little routine maintenance. Around high-noise points such as conveyor transfer stations and sorting machines, we installed modular sound barriers with a multi-layer damping structure, delivering up to 27dB of single-layer sound insulation to block direct equipment noise from spreading to staff workstations.

The 3,100㎡ renovation was completed in 31 days through overnight phased construction, with zero impact on daytime fulfillment operations. After acceptance testing, staff work area ambient noise fell within the allowable range of local occupational health standards. On-site verbal communication is noticeably clearer, and the durable low-maintenance acoustic system also reduces long-term operational costs for the facility management team.
