Fiberglass Acoustic Ceiling Panels for Airport Terminal Acoustic Improvement Project

fiberglass acoustic ceiling

This project was the ceiling acoustic improvement of a regional airport terminal. As a high-flow transportation hub, the terminal has dense passenger flow, frequent broadcast prompts and luggage trolley noise. The original ordinary ceiling has poor sound absorption effect, noise is superimposed and echoed in the large space, the terminal environment is noisy, and passengers’ travel comfort is poor. As a key public transportation place, there are also extremely strict requirements on fire protection performance of ceiling materials.

Fiberglass acoustic ceiling panels were selected as the full-coverage ceiling solution for the terminal departure hall and arrival hall. Made of inorganic high-density glass fiber, the panels have inherent Class A fire resistance, zero flame spread and low smoke toxicity, fully meeting the highest level of fire safety standards for civil aviation public places. The interconnected porous structure has an ultra-high NRC of 0.90–0.95, which can effectively absorb crowd noise, broadcast reverberation and equipment background noise, and improve the overall acoustic environment of the terminal.

At the same time, the panels have excellent moisture resistance and dimensional stability, adapt to the air-conditioned environment with large passenger flow, and will not sag or deform after long-term use. Compatible with the standard ceiling keel system, it can be seamlessly integrated with lighting, ventilation, fire protection and other facilities. After the project was put into use, the overall noise of the terminal was significantly reduced, the waiting environment was more comfortable, and the passenger travel experience was greatly improved.
