Fiberglass Acoustic Ceiling + Grooved Panels for Large Retail Mall in Middle East

This large-scale regional shopping mall in the Middle East welcomes heavy daily footfall across fashion, F&B and grocery zones. High exposed concrete ceilings, stone flooring and large glass facades created long reverberation tails, with crowd noise, store music and trolley clatter building up quickly across the wide open concourses. The hot, dusty desert climate placed strict demands on material durability — standard porous acoustic materials would clog with dust and lose performance over time. The mall management required a low-maintenance, fire-safe acoustic solution built for harsh industrial-commercial conditions.
We deployed high-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles across main concourses and corridor zones, paired with grooved acoustic wall panels along feature walls and atrium edges. The fiberglass tiles achieve an NRC rating of 0.90–0.95, absorbing broad-spectrum reflected noise across the large open spaces. The material is inherently dust-resistant, sag-proof and heat-stable, maintaining consistent performance in high-temperature, high-dust environments with very little routine maintenance. All tiles carry ASTM E84 Class A fire certification, fully compliant with local public building safety codes. On upper wall sections, mineral-wool backed grooved panels target mid-low frequency resonance common in high-volume retail spaces, with an NRC of 0.80+ to further smooth out overall sound levels.
The 2,900㎡ renovation was rolled out in phased night shifts over 27 days, with zero disruption to daytime mall trading. Post-installation testing confirmed overall background noise dropped significantly across all concourses. Public announcement clarity improved notably, and shoppers report a more relaxed, less overwhelming retail experience. The durable, low-maintenance ceiling system also reduces long-term facility management costs for the mall operator.
