Challenge

This high-end yoga and meditation studio in Lisbon uses polished concrete, glass partitions and hard plaster walls. Air handling system hum plus multi-group simultaneous meditation instruction created echo and sound bleed between separate yoga rooms. Loud echoes distracted practitioners and broke quiet meditation atmosphere. The designer required soft fabric panels with custom muted earth tones, good NRC rating, clean and minimalist appearance.

Solution

All inner partition walls of yoga rooms are fitted with fabric wrapped acoustic panels. The fiberglass core absorbs mid-high voice reflection and isolates sound between different training rooms. The relaxation lounge ceiling uses flat smooth fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles with no fleece or texture to reduce ambient reverberation. Fabric colour palette matches the studio’s natural wellness interior. All panels comply with EU indoor low VOC regulation and EN fire requirements.

Result

Room-to-room sound transmission is significantly reduced. Reverberation drops below 0.6s. Instructor voice stays soft and clear without echo. Practitioners are no longer disturbed by voices from adjacent rooms. The fabric panels become part of the studio’s calm, premium wellness aesthetic.
