Polyester Fiber Acoustic Panels | Children’s Early Learning Centre, Auckland, New Zealand

Challenge
This open-plan early learning centre for toddlers has large hard flooring and glass walls. Children’s shouting, running footsteps and toy noise amplified inside the space. High noise levels caused overstimulation for young kids, and educators struggled to make themselves heard. The client prioritized safe, non-toxic, impact-resistant acoustic materials that can withstand frequent bumps, scratches and daily cleaning.
Solution
Polyester fiber acoustic panels are installed on low wall sections within activity zones. The lightweight, flexible panels absorb high-frequency children’s noise, and they are safe, non-shedding and easy to wipe clean. Corridors and nap rooms use flat smooth fiberglass ceiling tiles, no textured fluffy surface, to cut down overall ambient noise. All materials meet AS/NZS fire standards and Australian CDPH low VOC indoor safety requirements.
Result
Peak noise level in activity zones drops by 11 dB. Speech clarity improves greatly for educators. Kids show less agitation and sensory overload in noisy group activities. The polyester panels resist bump damage and regular wiping cleaning, fully suitable for high-traffic childcare environments.
