The Challenge

This 220㎡ high-precision manufacturing workshop on the outskirts of Munich produces custom mechanical parts for medical devices. CNC machines, grinding equipment and ventilation systems run all day, generating steady broadband noise. The noise interferes with precision measurement accuracy, and skilled technicians face long-term noise exposure shift after shift. The workshop has strict dust control and cleanability rules, so any acoustic material can’t shed particles, has to withstand regular wiping, and hold up in an industrial environment.

Our Solution

We fitted the entire workshop ceiling with high-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles, NRC 0.90–0.95, inherent Class A fire resistance to EN 13501 standards. The interconnected porous structure efficiently absorbs full-spectrum reflected noise from equipment and airflow, while the dense hardened surface resists dust build-up and supports regular wipe-down cleaning — critical for precision manufacturing environments. Around high-noise equipment perimeters, we added partial perforated acoustic panels with mineral wool backing to help control mid-low frequency equipment noise.

All materials are non-particulate and fiber-shedding free, meeting workshop dust control requirements. The system holds stable performance even in temperature-fluctuating industrial environments.

The Results

Ambient noise in the main production area dropped by an estimated 41%, falling within acceptable limits for occupational health and reducing acoustic interference to improve measurement accuracy. Technicians report less end-of-shift fatigue and much clearer verbal communication during work. Product pass rate also saw a measurable improvement thanks to reduced vibration and noise interference.
