Recycled Polyester Acoustic Panels for Boston Co-working Meeting Pods

The Challenge

This premium co-working space in downtown Boston has 12 standalone glass meeting pods of different sizes, plus open work zones and break areas. The glass partitions were chosen for visual openness, but they create terrible speech privacy. Conversations inside pods carry easily to adjacent desks, and confidential team discussions risk being overheard. The brand positions itself as a premium professional workspace, so acoustic privacy is a core selling point — but they couldn’t add bulky, ugly treatment that would ruin the clean, modern glass aesthetic.

Our Approach

We lined the interior of every meeting pod with high-density fiberglass core fabric wrapped acoustic panels, NRC 0.85–1.0. The panels absorb internal reflections to kill flutter echo and make speech clearer inside the pod, while also cutting down sound transmission through glass gaps. We used a neutral matte charcoal finish that matches the modern office palette, so the interior looks clean and professional — no visible acoustic treatment at all.

On feature walls in the open work zone, we added matching fabric panels to bring down overall ambient reverb across the whole floor.

All materials carry ASTM E84 Class A fire certification, formaldehyde-free with ultra-low VOC emissions for all-day indoor air quality. Lightweight modular installation was done overnight and on weekends.

The Results

Speech clarity inside pods improved dramatically, and sound leakage to adjacent workstations dropped sharply. Teams can hold confidential discussions at normal volume without worrying about being overheard. Members consistently rank acoustic privacy as one of the space’s top features, and monthly desk retention is up roughly 19%.
