Custom Acoustic Treatment for Luxury Bespoke Tailor Atelier & Showroom

This high-end bespoke tailor atelier combines a private fitting showroom, fabric library and on-site workroom, catering to discerning clients seeking made-to-measure formalwear. The space features solid wood millwork, marble flooring and full-height glass partitions, creating strong sound reflection that disrupted the quiet, confidential atmosphere expected of a luxury service. Client consultations and fitting conversations carried across the showroom, and sewing machine noise from the back workroom intruded into the client-facing areas, undermining the premium brand experience. The atelier required a nearly invisible acoustic solution that would preserve the refined, classic interior aesthetic while improving speech privacy and ambient calm.
We developed a fully customized acoustic scheme using ultra-thin recycled polyester fiber panels, discreetly installed behind millwork accents, inside fabric display walls and across the ceiling perimeter of the showroom and fitting suites. Each panel was custom color-matched to the warm walnut and deep charcoal interior palette, blending seamlessly into the architecture with no visible functional hardware. The dense PET core delivers a stable NRC rating of 0.85–0.95, absorbing reflected speech and softening workroom noise transfer to create a calm, confidential environment. All materials use a zero-formaldehyde, low-VOC formula appropriate for a high-end client-facing retail space.
Upon completion, sound transmission between fitting rooms and public areas was drastically reduced, and consultations take place in complete privacy. Ambient noise from the workroom is no longer noticeable on the showroom floor, and clients report a noticeably calmer, more exclusive atmosphere. Average appointment length has increased, and the atelier’s refined, uncompromised interior aesthetic remains fully intact. The project demonstrates how discreet, custom-tailored acoustic design can elevate a luxury service experience without altering the visual identity of the space.
