This family-owned craft distillery specializes in small-batch gin and whiskey, with a flagship tasting room built inside a repurposed industrial warehouse. The space features exposed brick walls, high vaulted ceilings and polished concrete floors, leaning into a rugged industrial heritage aesthetic, but the hard reflective surfaces created severe reverberation. During peak tasting hours, guest conversation, glassware clinking and background ambient sound stacked into a loud, harsh acoustic environment that clashed with the brand’s premium, approachable positioning. The distillery required an acoustic upgrade that would preserve the raw warehouse character rather than covering it with generic finished panels.

We designed a custom acoustic scheme centered on cement-bonded spruce wood wool panels, installed across the full ceiling grid of the tasting room. The natural fiber-cement texture retains the space’s authentic industrial warehouse feel with no additional paint or finish, aligning perfectly with the distillery’s handcrafted brand identity. We specified a staggered modular layout optimized for the room’s unique volume and ceiling structure, delivering consistent NRC 0.80–0.90 sound absorption across the entire space. All panels carry Class A fire resistance and excellent moisture stability, fully compliant with commercial hospitality building codes.

After installation, peak-hour ambient noise levels dropped noticeably, and guests can hold tasting conversations at normal volume without straining. Average guest dwell time increased by 30%, and the textured wood wool ceiling has become a widely noted design feature that reinforces the brand’s artisanal, heritage-driven image. The project delivers a fully bespoke acoustic solution that honors the space’s industrial roots while elevating customer experience, perfectly suited to the growing craft spirits market across North America and Europe.
