Custom Polyester Acoustic Treatment for Independent Podcast Production Studio

custom podcast studio acoustics

This independent podcast production studio was created for a full-time content creator focusing on interview and narrative shows. Converted from a spare room in a residential studio space, the original drywall and hardwood flooring created strong room reverb and standing waves, resulting in hollow, muddy vocal tracks that required hours of post-production editing to fix. The creator required a non-destructive, fully customized acoustic solution that would deliver broadcast-grade dry vocal sound while matching the warm, minimalist aesthetic of the on-camera recording space.

We developed a fully tailored acoustic plan using 100% recycled polyester fiber panels, positioned at precise reflection points across all four walls and the ceiling based on acoustic simulation of the room dimensions. Each panel was custom color-matched to the studio’s warm neutral wall tone, and modular adhesive mounting required no structural drilling or permanent modifications. The dense porous core delivers a stable NRC rating of 0.85–0.95, eliminating flutter echo and standing wave coloration for clean, neutral vocal capture. All materials use a zero-formaldehyde, ultra-low VOC formula suitable for long hours of enclosed studio use.

Upon completion, acoustic testing confirmed the room’s reverberation time falls within the optimal range for professional voice recording. Raw vocal tracks now sound crisp and consistent with no noticeable room tone, cutting post-production editing time by nearly 40%. The panels blend so seamlessly into the interior that they are virtually invisible on camera, preserving the studio’s polished on-air visual identity. The project demonstrates how customized, non-invasive acoustic design can deliver studio-grade sound performance in a small, multi-use creative space.
