Fiberglass Acoustic Ceiling Panels for Large Indoor Swimming Pool Acoustic Project

This project was the ceiling acoustic renovation of a large indoor constant temperature swimming pool. The original gypsum board ceiling had poor sound absorption effect, and the space was closed with high humidity. The sound of water splashing, crowd talking and equipment operation was superimposed and echoed, resulting in a noisy and harsh environment. At the same time, the original ceiling was prone to mildew, peeling and sagging deformation in the high-humidity and high-chlorine environment for a long time, with high later maintenance costs.
Fiberglass acoustic ceiling panels were selected for the overall ceiling replacement of the natatorium. Made of inorganic high-density glass fiber, the panels have inherent Class A fire resistance, low smoke and non-toxicity, fully meeting the fire safety standards of large public sports places. The interconnected porous structure has an ultra-high NRC of 0.90–0.95, which can effectively absorb water splash noise, crowd noise and equipment background noise, and improve the overall acoustic environment of the swimming pool.
Most importantly, the fiberglass panels have excellent moisture-proof, mildew-proof and corrosion-resistant properties, can adapt to the high-humidity and high-chlorine environment of the swimming pool for a long time, do not sag or deform, and are not easy to breed bacteria, greatly reducing later maintenance and replacement costs. After the project was put into use, the overall noise of the natatorium decreased by 40% during peak hours, the environment was more comfortable, and the durable ceiling system also effectively reduced the operation and maintenance pressure of the venue.
