Fiberglass Acoustic Ceiling Panels for Large Fresh Supermarket Noise Reduction Project

fiberglass acoustic ceiling

This project was the ceiling acoustic renovation of a large fresh food supermarket. The original ordinary mineral wool ceiling had poor sound absorption effect. The supermarket has a large flow of people, and the cold chain equipment such as freezers and refrigerators runs continuously for 24 hours. The mechanical noise is superimposed with the crowd chatter, resulting in a noisy and harsh environment. In addition, the fresh area has high humidity, and the original ceiling is prone to sagging and mildew after long-term use, with high later maintenance costs.

Fiberglass acoustic ceiling panels were selected for the overall ceiling replacement of the supermarket. Made of inorganic high-density glass fiber, the panels have inherent Class A fire resistance, low smoke and non-toxicity, fully meeting the fire safety standards of large commercial supermarkets. The interconnected porous structure has an ultra-high NRC of 0.90–0.95, which can effectively absorb the noise of cold chain equipment and the noisy sound of the crowd, and improve the overall acoustic environment of the shopping space.

At the same time, the panels have excellent moisture resistance and mildew resistance, adapt to the high-humidity environment of the fresh area, do not sag or deform after long-term use, and are easy to clean and maintain, reducing later operation costs. After the project was put into use, the overall noise of the supermarket decreased by 38% during peak hours, the shopping environment was more comfortable, and the average customer stay time increased by 21%. The durable ceiling system also effectively reduces the frequency of later maintenance and replacement.
