Wood Wool Acoustic Panels for Urban Boutique Bookstore Acoustic Design

Wood Wool Acoustic Panels

This project was the acoustic design of a high-quality boutique bookstore in the city center. The space features concrete walls, high ceilings and a large number of hard bookshelf surfaces, which are prone to noise superposition. During peak hours, the sound of readers walking, talking and turning pages is mixed, making the environment noisy and destroying the quiet reading atmosphere that the bookstore should have.

Cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels were selected as the core ceiling and partial wall acoustic material. The natural wood-cement texture of the panels matches the quiet, natural and literary temperament of the bookstore, and the matte texture adds a warm and layered sense to the space without additional decorative treatment. The open fiber structure achieves an NRC of 0.80–0.90, which effectively absorbs the scattered noise in the space and reduces the overall environmental reverberation.

In addition, the wood wool panels have Class A fire resistance and good moisture resistance, adapting to the long-term operation needs of commercial public spaces. After the project was completed, the overall noise level of the bookstore decreased significantly, the sense of environmental quietness was greatly improved, and readers could maintain a focused reading state more easily. The natural texture of the panels also enhances the spatial texture, realizing the perfect integration of acoustic function and literary aesthetics.
